In the Balkans, Serbia wanted to unite all the Serbs, but in 1908, Austria -Hungary annexed Bosnia-Herzegovina , where a lot of Serbs lived. Naturally, they started secret groups to fight against the foreign rule. One of these grouo was the Black Hand, and its imfamous member was Gavrilo Prinzip, who later assassinated the heir to the Austrian throne, Franz Ferdinand and his wife - on 28 June, 1914 - a month later the First world War started. The assassination was the "casus belli".
