The Europeans got other Europeans at first to work on plantaions however they could not manage working in the hot sun and eventually got sick or died.So they need other people who are more accustomed to the climate. Africa being close or even hotter in climate the Africans were the logical choice. Thus they went to Africa and traded weapons, ammo and other things that were mass made in their country for war captives, who were in turn taken to the Caribbean and sold as slaves.

Hope this helps.

The African slave trade began?

The African slave trade was started by the Portuguese around the year 1530. A very small number of slaves were used to tend to the sugar plantations that were being set up in the Caribbean in areas such as Barbados, Jamaica and Cuba. The need for slaves was great because the Europeans had a very hard time getting the indigenous people of these areas to work, and because the pathogens the Europeans brought with them were detrimental to the indigenous people. The need for slaves greatly increased after the 1650's.

European countries did not test the Monroe doctrine because of Americas superior military strength?

Not exactly. While both France and England initially had navies that were superior to America's, they were both allies of the United States - and were allowed to trade in the Caribbean without fear of paying expensive taxes or tribute. Thus the value of 'free trade' is that all benefit by trade, enabling them to spend on other items the government finds important. Also note both the English, French, and Dutch still owned islands in the Caribbean, so if these countries honored the Monroe Doctrine, then they had no need to send ships and men to protect them, as they were already under America's watchful eye.

What are reason why slaves from Africa were needed in Caribbean islands?

Slaves from Africa were needed in Caribbean islands mainly for their labor to work on plantations that produced valuable crops like sugar, coffee, and tobacco. The demand for these crops created a need for cheap and abundant labor, which led to the widespread use of African slaves in the region. The transatlantic slave trade provided a constant supply of enslaved Africans to meet this demand.

Why did the europeans trade in slaves?

Europeans traded in slaves because this was a free source of labor. They did not need to do the strenuous work by making their slaves do it for them, so it was on a high demand. If you had to clear 100 acres of forest land, and one acre clearing would take 15 to 20 years, would you rather do it yourself or have someone else do it? I would go with the latter. Slaves were first indentured servants and then became slaves. I would tell you the whole story, but that would dwell on a different question.

How did the europeans justify slaves from Africa?

Europeans justified the enslavement of Africans through racist ideologies that portrayed Africans as inferior and in need of "civilizing." They also argued that slavery was necessary for economic prosperity and that Africans were better off as slaves in European colonies. These justifications helped perpetuate the transatlantic slave trade and the brutal exploitation of Africans for centuries.
