The separatists who broke away from the Church of England fled to many different places to escape persecution and obtain religious freedom. These places included Ireland, continental Europe, and the New World. One of the most famous group of separatists, known as the Pilgrims, first sailed to the New World in the Mayflower and founded Plymouth Colony.
They were going on vacation to the Bahamas and got lost. Either that or they got tired of Ye Olde Englande. No one knows for sure....... thoough many have been known to visit for the bird watching opportunities.
