America didn't trust Russia because they were communist. both Russia and America were in a time of distrust with each other, thinking they may go to war. this time was called the "cold war"
No. If the US had fought the USSR that would have ended the cold war & marked the beginning of WWIII.
The Cold War. The Cold War did not necessarily involve any direct attacks, however. It was mainly between America and Russia in the 60's and 70's. Russia wanted to spread communism, but America didn't. Eventually Russia tried to spread it in Vietnam. The North Vietnamese approved, the South didn't. China was already communist, so they pitched in to help North Vietnam and Russia.
The Cold War; the rivalry between capitalist America and communist Russia.

russia and america
America and Russia, and the cold war was pretty much all a bluff. Russia said we are making a nuke. And then America said if you are building one we are building 10 and this just kinda escalated into the cold war. Neither country had nukes though. It was called the cold war because there was no gun fighting, infact it was fighting with words. A fake fight with words actually, because nothing either country said was true.
