Nobody should use the abomination that is internet Explorer. Microsoft use to make a version of Internet Explorer for Macs which was for some time the default browser on Macs. The last was version 5.2.3 in 2003. It was neither very good or popular and Mac users would often install alternative browsers. In 2003 Apple announced their own browser based on the KHTML KJS code. They called their layout engine WebKit which made it available under a GNU General Public Licence so anybody can use the code and contribute to its development. The WebKit core is the basis for Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browsers as well as mobile browsers developed by Nokia, RIM, Palm etc.
