There are sulfur compounds in raw onions that make some of us very sick. The reaction can range from a simple gag to actually throwing up. Many of us can ingest onions that have been completely caramelized.
I know for myself, if I get one teeny piece of raw onion on a burger, or in lettuce, it will always make me ill and ruin my meal. I might be able to swallow a mouthful with the offensive bit, but I'll taste it for at least half a day. I can also smell it on people's breath for at least 12 hours, no matter how much brushing the person does.
Onion sensitivity/allergy is often laughed at, ridiculed or poo-pooed by others. The fact remains, if someone says that onions make them sick, it is a real and serious negative reaction to something in the food and is not just a "picky" food choice. I'd rather be able to eat raw onions, trust me!

∙ 6y agoIf you are only sick after eating onions, and no other foods, you may have an allergy towards onions.
It seems that 3% of adults may have this allergy. Though some can eat a small amount of cooked onions (in a beef or ham burger, possibly), other would be sick in the near presence of onions in the kitchen. You need to be tested medically for this possible allergy, so helping you to avoid this problem in the future.

onions might not kill it but it is not good for any dog. depending on how much it eats really matters. if it only had a small piece that should be OK but its not good for them to eat onions. If it had 1/6 of an onion or more it can be dangerous. if it had more than 1/3 of the onion the dog might throw up and you might have to take it to the vets.

because your body needs food to be able to function so its not going to throw it up it needs the protein
