The Sikh religion (allegedly the 10th Guru himself) forbids the use of alcohol and all drugs, including tobacco. Whether or not a person is a "true" Sikh is not for us to say.The Sikh Code of Conduct states, "A Sikh must not take hemp, opium, liquor, tobacco, or any intoxicant." At the time of initiation, a Sikh vows not to use any intoxicant. Drinking alcohol is forbidden for Sikhs.
In the US, tobacco print ads are required to have a box listing some of the problems associated with tobacco use. Ads for tobacco products are not permitted on broadcast media. There are no comparable requirements for alcohol, although some types of alcoholic beverages may not be advertised on TV or Radio and there are other minimal requirements to tell people to "drink responsibly" and so forth.
Alcohol adn drugs are treated just as they are in the civilian population; alcohol is okay as long as you don't get stupid with it, drugs will get you kicked out of the force and into jail.
