Why do some boys and men want to circumcise themselves?

Some boys are circumcised for religious reasons, for example if you are Jewish. Most Muslims support circumcision, but for them it is mainly hygienic; it is not a religious requirement. Most other religions such as Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism do not practice circumcision as a religious rite.

Circumcision became popular in the late 19th century as a method to keep young boys from masturbating. Gradually, the practice of routine infant circumcision became widespread in the United States. Among them are that circumcision is virtually never medically indicated at birth, and the long-term medical benefits are modest; the conditions it tends to protect against are infrequent to begin with. Circumcision can decrease the sensitivity of the penis during sexual activity, and there are various other problems and deformities of the penis that have been clearly associated with the procedure. In terms of cost-benefit analysis, more and more experts are viewing routine circumcision that is not medically indicated as a practice that should stop.

Doctors no longer recommend routine infant circumcision, and as a result the rate of circumcision in the United States is falling. In the 1980s up to 80% of newborn males were circumcised. By 2007, less than 40% of newborn males were circumcised.

There is no medical reason for being circumcised except in very rare circumstances . the claim that the intact penis is more likely to cause or pick up illnesses is totally grounds-less circumcision eventually leads to the desensitisation of the glans penis as well the loss of tens of thousands of nerves in the foreskin it-selves that would otherwise enhance sexual pleasure. s then 20% of the worlds men are circumcised and most of them for religeios reasons.

Jews and Muslims, have it done forreligious and cultural reasons

It's only necessary for rare medical reasons The majority of men in Europe, Asia and other places have no problem cleaning themselves so there shouldn't be a problem for others either. Women have folds too and manages just fine.

Many men and boys feel insecure in theyr sexuality, if they are in the USA there is a fairly strong marketing thing happening all the time that states that circumcision is the norm and that circumcision wil make them more atractive or healthy or whole on some way. the same sort of reasoning is used by people that sel penis enlargers (which by the way dont work either). they are afraid that they may not measure up in the genitals department. however it is al bassed on the market and has nothing to do with reality. 80% OF THE WORLDS MEN ARE INTACT AND WOULD GET THE CREEPS JUST THINKING ABOUT HAVING A CHUNK OF THEIR WILLY CUT OF FOR ANY REASON.

The might feel that NO doctor will do it for them, and this is EXTREMELY dangerous!

Circumcision is imposed on mainly infants and children to about 15% 0f the worlds population of males. It is done mainly for religious and religious/cultural reasons. Aside from that it is also done to indicate a rite of passage into manhood in some tribal traditions. A movement stared during the Victorian era 1850s in the English speaking cultures including the USA where it was suggested that masturbation was responsible for a huge number of diseases ranging from Syphilis to insanity and and blindness not to mention bed wetting. there is still a lingering of the practice in these country's though it is rapidly disappearing from the scene. The USA still has the largest number of infant circumcisions for non religious reasons and that is no doubt because it is a billion dollar industry that has many people involved that are loath to give up this source of income. It should be said however that there is no reason for circumcision except in extremely rare instances. and that circumcision is in fact harmful to both the penis and if it is inflicted on infants can harm their mind as a result of post traumatic stress syndrome caused by the extreme pain involved in the practice for the child.

Some are because their religion calls for it. Some are because it's traditional in their society and/or family. Often also because their parents think it's more hygienic. A very small number are circumcised because of true medical reasons, like a too tight foreskin. Circumcision does make personal hygiene a little easier. It might save a person 3-5 seconds daily. Not really enough reason to cut healthy body parts off w/o asking IMO.
