The white lines are called variegation, and are caused by genetic differences that produce less chlorophyll. It's essentially 2 plants growing as one, called a chimera. Variegated plants generally are weaker than fully-green ones, because they can't do photosynthesis as well, but people prefer them as houseplants because of the more interesting coloration.

The purely green babies have reverted to the original green plant, so do not use them for propagation as they will likely never show the white stripes. It is best to remove the green ones or the whole plant may eventually revert to green.
