Yes
Red potatoes have some nutrients in their skin. They turn into sugar just like regular potatoes, however. Potatoes are not complex carbohydrates.
Potatoes do not turn into diamonds.
yes
I am assuming you mean potatoes that have turned green on the peel , usually that means the potatoe has been exposed to to much light, they will turn green, this must be completely removed when peeling the potatoes, then cook as usual.
Most commonly, sweet potatoes are harvested when the plant dies off, often as winter approaches and frosts begin. They can be harvested before this by cutting tubers from the plant. If the cut tuber exudes a milky juice that turns blackish upon drying then the tubers are not ready. If it dries clear, they are mature.
Sweet potatoes should not turn black when baking. If you have black spots on the skin (if unpeeled) then you are baking at too high a temperature. To make certain the potatoes are fully cooked, you can boil them first, then wrap them in foil, and bake at 350°F.If they are peeled and turning black, you are still baking at too high a temperature. Try covering the dish with foil, and never bake potatoes over 350°F. Again, boiling them first will help ensure full cooking.
First of all, you added too much oil and babbaganosh and secondly, you didn't have the temp up high enough. (Should be 6500 Deg. Approx)
No.
The best method that I have used is after they are peeled, just cover them with water and some ice cubes and let them sit. As long as they are completely covered with water, they will not brown.
Get a fork and pierce the potato, if it slides in easily it is ready, if there is some resistance, try again in another ten minutes. Also, if roasting and they are going black, lower the heat or turn the oven off altogether, but keep the potatos in because they will still cook. If steaming, they turn a slightly lighter shade. Experience is the best teacher, cook them again and again until you think they're right!
