The USA has always been an immigrant country. At first the United States considered English, Irish, and Germans the average Americans because they were the majority immigrating to the United States.

Over the years, this has shifted and now Hispanics (mostly from Latin America) have become the new American because of its incredibly fast growing numbers and political power.

Hispanic people have grown since the early 20th century and now appear in the media, as we can see for example many singers and artists (Selena Gomes, Demi Lovato, Antonio Banderas, Ricardo Montalban, Rick Martin, etc) that make hispanic people be part of the new american way of life.
