How did Procopius describe Justinian in the book the Secret History?

The Historia Arcana expressed Procopius' dissatisfaction with the emperor, Belisarius (his general) and their wives, Theodora and Antonina. Justinian is portrayed as cruel, venal, prodigal and incompetent and as a a monster whose head could suddenly vanish. He alleged that a man at Justinian's court saw the head of the emperor vanish while he was walking about and then re-joining his body "as strangely as it had left it." Procopius' worse allegation were about Theodora, whom she portayed as dissolute actress who performed on the stage almost nacked and got slaves to scatter barley seed over her groin and used trained geese to peck them.

Why did the Mayan civilization vanish or why isn't it around today?

The Mayans didn't vanish. They moved all over, partly into what is now Mexico and South America. They also moved northward, the Mayan's history is clouded by the lack of information and the understanding of what is available. The Mayan civilization had cycles of life each consisted of I believe 533 years or something like that. Their belief was that each 1000 years a "new" world or cycle would begin. Each cycle brought different elements of life such as disaster, great bounty etc... This is why the Mayan calender ends December 21, 2012. The 5,000 year cycle starts again or so it's believed.

Why did the Minoan civilization vanish?

About 1450 B.C., the Minoan civilization suddenly collapsed. Some historians think undersea earthquakes caused giant waves that washed away the Minoan's cities. Others think the cities were destroyed by a group of Greeks from the mainland. These invaders were called the Mycenaeans.
