Why do women stick up for other women or defend other women who are complete strangers when the women they stick up for could be their rivals or enemies?

Women will always take another woman's side instead of a man's. And don't we men do the same?
Basically, Women protect other women because they can see themselves in whatever situation the other woman is in. It doesn't matter if they are enemies, women will look out for each other whether they like them or not, it's just like a woman code. The reason why they do not always stand up for men is because men are supposed to be the dominant species and they are strong enough to defend them. This is the same in lions; The male will protect the female and defend them from others, the lioness's would protect their cubs or weaker lioness's. Bada Bing, Bada Boom! Womens code ;)
