In the first instance of course she had listened to the devil's lie that said ''thou shalt not surely die"(Genesis 3:4). Her direction was thus away from obedience to the almighty creator's word and towards her personal desires. No doubt the fruit of the tree was good, but like all sin, the end result was far from good.

Essentially she chose her own desire to taste something nice over and above obedience to her maker. Of course the promised wisdom was an illusion, a lie of Satan to add to the attraction. She could have had any amount of needed wisdom had she asked God ( as per James - "If any man lack wisdom let him ask of God"). The point was that she chose her own way rather than God's to get it.
