They were 'intolerable', according to my history teachers way back when, because for the most part we'd been left alone and all of sudden we were having laws directly aimed at the colonies.
Personally, I believe it's because people didn't actually bother to read the laws and went on the inflammatory gossip. You know, like today. That and they wanted to be defended for free by the British army without paying a 'farthing' as it were. As those laws were designed to refill the British treasuries after they'd been emptied whacking around the French. The American aspect of it called the 'French and Indian War', which the British sent troops over here to fight. I'd quote the laws themselves, but I must admit to over a decade between my studies of said acts and now, so I'm uncertain of which are those and which go to the Stamp Acts and all that.
When English colonists settled in a new land they carried their own laws with them. This is called the: The Intolerable Acts is what they were called.
There was a law the Intolerable Acts.
In Great Britain, these laws were referred to as the Coercive Acts and seen by the colonists as one of the Intolerable Acts.
The colonists called the Coercive Acts the "Intolerable Acts" because they viewed the laws as oppressive and unfair. The acts were seen as a violation of their rights and liberties, including the closing of the port of Boston and the imposition of martial law. The colonists believed that these acts were intolerable and not to be accepted.
