Israel is illegally annexing territory, it is relying on possession being 9/10th of the

law. However, the Middle East will never be stable until Israel retreats to its

prewar boundaries. As things are going the situation is just getting worse and

apart from the Americans (who have a huge, sympathetic Jewish community) the

rest of the world has run out of patients with Israel. Perhaps the advent of

democratic governments in the countries neighboring Israel will change basis of

the arguments.

=======================================

Since this has become an opinion page, here's another one:

Israel is not annexing territory, possession is not an issue, Israel has no need

of additional territory, and nations facing intransigent neighbors bent on hostility

routinely establish buffer zones to provide their civilian population with some

measure of insulation. Thanks for the gratuitous implication that America's huge

sympathetic Jewish community has somehow tied their country's hands and

continue to slyly manipulate it in directions that it would otherwise not go ... still

a mystery how 1.7% of a democratic nation's population can do that, particularly

without benefit of any structure or central leadership, but then we all know about

those Jews, don't we. Spell-check-note: Doctors run out of patients. Nations don't.

But since we're on the subject of patience, one wonders how long Manchester's

would last if rockets launched from Liverpool and falling on its residential neighborhoods

were a daily occurrence. And one collapses in total amazement at the final implication

that the dictatorships of Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran etc. have been

the ones protecting Israel and keeping the lid on their teeming masses, who have

everything they want just the way they want it in their own countries, and lack

nothing but the opportunity to freely deal with the Zionist entity next door, if only

they were allowed free rein.

Why are the Palestinians angry about Israel's water use?

Answer 1Because the Drought in Israel in the last 10 years, there are problems in Israel but the Palestinian get always water constantly, they don't get angry about anything.By the way, Jordan and the west bank get more water than the agreements between Israel and them specify.Answer 2Israel has constructed massive pipelines from the Sea of Galilee to Beersheba which transport thousands of litres of water daily to the Israeli population while failing to connect such waterways to Palestinian homes in the West Bank. In addition, Israel is plumbing aquifers that run under both Israel and the West Bank without having Palestinian Authority's permission or sharing the water received equitably with the Palestinians. This makes the water issue also a Palestinian occupation since the joint aquifers are being plumbed against Palestinian wishes.

Are there any Palestinian Resistance movements within Israel?

Of course! There are signs of Palestinian resistance everywhere within Israel proper and the Palestinian Territories. Many Arab Israeli citizens identify as Palestinian and with the Palestinian cause, although they do not necessarily want to move to the West Bank. The whole concept of the "right of return" is demonstrative of the Palestinian desire for autonomy and equality within Israel proper. There are also a number of organizations and groups run by Jewish Israelis such as Rabbis for Human Rights and Peace Now, which support Palestinian people within Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Resistance can be defined in many ways and take many forms, which do not necessarily need to be associated with political parties.
