Because it's probably running on 3 plugs. Give us the year, make, model and engine info and then we will try to help you diagnose the cause.
Possibly in need a new spark plugs... I had a Honda that did this,and new plugs,it was running like new....

No. The spark plugs are responsible for igniting the fuel in the cylinders. If you start yanking them out, the engine is going to stop running. This is covered in the book Things That Dummies Do.
Just replace plugs is all that is usually needed. I have gone 70K on plugs and car was still running perfect. There is nothing else that needs to be replaced unless car is running poorly, then you may need coil if car is missing badly. RecessionProof-Business.com

did u gap the plug or did the plugs come pre gapped if they did then that's not it and u might want to check ur plug wires
Depending on what you mean running?? If it is the engine that stops running then it could be something electrical like alternator not charging battery, mechanical malfuction like broken timming belt or water pump, no oil in engine, overheating, extremely worn spark plugs, or catastrophic engine damage.
