It's cheaper to make cans with a main steel body and coat them with tin. Strength of steel and the corrosion resistance of tin.
Because tin is more protective for food and...yeh. Thatz pretty much it.LOL.
ppl have tin cans to store food in easy packages and to eat it after a long time of being in room temp storage
Because steel is more cheaper and resistant than tin.
No, food cans are made of steel, cans for nonacidic beverages are usually made of aluminum, cans for acidic beverages are made of steel. Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, sometimes with other elements (some steel alloys include some nickel, but these are usually specialty steels and should not be needed in cans).
Tin is not very reactive when in contact with acidic foods so it is used to coat steel to make food cans; This prevents the food being tainted by can and prevents the food from damaging the steel can and potentially breaching its integrity.
Because steel will react with the food and could oxidize (Rust), which could penetrate the can and allow in bacteria to contaminate the food.Actually most modern "tin" cans contain no tin, the steel is coated with a protective layer of plastic instead.
I don't know why. but it could be one of 3 reasons or any combination of them.1. steel cans make the shake heavier, so psychologically you think your eating a lot of food when in reality its only 11 ounces. 2. steel is far superior when it comes to shipping slimfast. because if it was in an aluminum can it would burst open (the mouth) it is was dented because of the density of the liquid and because the cans aren't pressurized like sodas. 3. The slimfast plant is in Arizona and they have a huge metal industry there they are ranked in the top 5 for copper ore almost every year they also have a huge Steel business too so. it might be more economical for slimfast to use the steel because it could be cheaper them aluminum.
it would be better to store them in foil because no light would get in and do bad things to the food
Cans which are made from steel, are electroplated with tin. (This is safe for storing food)

They are used for storing food.
no
NO ITS NOT. Once the can is opened it is exposed to air and will oxidate and make food toxic. Storing opened cans wherever is not ok. you have to store product elsewhere and throw the can away.
tuna cans, like any food cans, are made from steel and tin
They're not - or not any more. When it was done (a century ago) it was to prevent the steel of the cans from rusting.

Vegetables, pet food, aerosol cans, fruit and fruit juices, seafoods, and baby food were all commonly packaged in steel cans.
Food cans are generally made of tin and also made of steel and some are made of aluminum and other metals. The steel cans are often lined with tin.
They are made from steel with a thin coating of tin to prevent corrosion.
