Before you spend money buying parts trying to fix it, look for a disconnected or damaged vacuum line under the hood. The dash controls are operated from a vacuum supply from the engine. Without an adequate vacuum supply the vents may not operate correctly if at all.
Because the air selector died.
some thing is probley cloging the vents take it appart and ckeck.
My ac blows fine through the overhead, floor and side vents but intermittentely throught the front vents. What might be the cause?
There may be several reasons why the air only blows out the front vents and not on the floor or the defrost on the 2003 Dodge Ram. The fuses may be blown, or the heating coil is not working correctly.
There is a motorized switch that changes the position of a large flap inside the air handler above the right rear wheel. There is a small gear train between the motor and the gear. The pinion gear has stripped or the switch is not receiving the proper voltage. My guess would be that the gear train is damaged.
If the climate control on a 2003 Trailblazer will not switch from feet to head vents, try changing it to defroster then back to head. The mode button on the dual climate control model can only be switched from face/feet to feet and then to defrost. The feet and head vents worked at the same time.
Check for a vacuum leak -sounds like it is starving for vacuum and reverts to the default position
The turn signal flasher switch is mounted on the steering column left side. The hazard light flasher switch is is the red triangle mounted on the dash dead center between the A/C vents.
the 4 way flasher switch is located in the center of the dash between the vents with a red triangle on it. it is about 1 inch wide and 2 inches tall
The motor actuator is bad that redirects your airflow when you change modes (auto - manual, etc..) You need to remove the right side wall paneling from the rear up to the aft right door. This is where you will find the actuator connected in the system. They are about #30 from the Chevy dealer and not an after market product.
1st bet: Does it smell like antifreeze? Leaky heater core. 2nd bet: Worse after rain or car wash? Leak under cowl vents (the vents in front of the windshield. Good luck!
This is the same on all cars. When the air flow is OFF in a section, the it blows stronger to the other vents. In this case the ones for the windshield. This makes defrosting quicker so you can start driving safely sooner.
