their can be a couple of reasons for this, 1- while the car is in gear the drive train is loaded and the assembly is twisted(suspect weak/broken motor mounts) flexing coolant hoses. So there is a possible coolant leak with anything connected to coolant/heater hoses. Check radiator hoses, clamps, and the metal/plastic tubes that come off radiator. Also on plastic tank radiators, the rubber "o" ring gets hard over time and produces leaks. 2- You could have a semi clogged radiator, reason being that after being driven for a period of time and put in park that the heat from engine is can not be dissipated causing the coolant to boil over. 3- If your car has an electric cooling fan it could not be working, so while driving the coolant is circulating well, but when stopped their is no cool air passing through the radiator causing an over heating problem.

Why does coolant leak after running your engine but not while driving?

A coolant leak while the engine is running is likely in the water return hoses. The vehicle can be standing still and in park, but with the engine running the fluids are still being pushed through the system to keep the engine cool. The water return lines generally run from the top left of the radiator when you are standing at the front of the car looking at the engine. Any leak in that system will likely not continue once the engine is stopped as the fluid no longer is pushed through the system.

Why your 1992 Honda prelude had strong smell of gasoline while im driving or after you park the car their no leak what so ever?

You do have a leak or something is wrong with the EVAP system. You would not smell gasoline otherwise. It will take a skilled mechanic to find it.

How do you fix and antifreeze leak on an eagle talon 1998 non-turbo?

Clean the engine. Whenever possible park the vehicle on a level surface. Look around the water pump, hoses and radiator areas for evidence of a leak. Turn on the heat on high. If you smell a sickly sweet smell then the heater core may be leaking. Check the oil, if it is discolored then coolant may be in the oil. At all times keep a watch on the coolant. Do not let the coolant level get too low while chasing the leak.

What causes your vehicle to idle high and vibrate in park but when you are driving it is smooth?

I would look for a vacuum leak.

Why does your 1988 volkswagen golf gl leak gas while in the park mode?

Possilby the return line is rusted on the top of your tank and the fact that the system is pressurized while running, it will "bleed" off this fuel as a leak while park. Oh, and if this is the case...it is also leaking while you drive.

What makes rpm erratic while driving and in park?

Erratic RPMs while driving or in park could be due to a faulty oxygen sensor. It is also possible that poor gas is being used.

What causes a car to not idle in gear but not while in park or neutral?

A vacuum leak (Brake booster).

1988 park avenue runs rich smell of gas has good spark white smoke out tailpipe no anti-freeze in oil?

White smoke indicates coolant burning, usually accompanied by a sweet smell. It is possible to have a blown gasket and have no coolant in the oil, the leak is probably only present while the coolant system is under pressure and all of it is being burned in combustion.

Can a camshaft on a 95 Buick park ave cause a car to stall out while driving?

Why does your 1999 ford ranger idle up and down while in park?

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak from either a vacuum hose or a leak or crack in your intake. Check for hissing sounds.

What happens if you put your Automatic car in park while driving?

Nothing. It will keep on driving. There is a safety on the gear that will not enable it to be activated while in movement. It may destroy your gear though.

Why antifreeze leaking but dont see it?

That often happens when your engine has a leaking head gasket. The coolant from the engine's water jacket runs into the crankcase. This is something you want to rule out right away because it can destroy an engine past the point of economical rebuild. To check, drain the oil and look for coolant in the oil. If you see that the oil is showing unusually high on the dip stick, that is a pretty good clue, too. Another problem that could cause this symptom would be a leaking heater core. The coolant will leak to the interior of the car and soak the carpet. You won't necessarily notice the leak right away if you have rubber floor mats. You would smell the coolant, though. Very slow leaks can evaporate while you are driving and you might not notice dripping. Put a clean piece of cardboard under your car after you park and you can identify very small leaks easier.
