First of all is the spark bright blue...if so you have strong good spark if not you need new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Next thing is the ram carborated? If so take off the air cleaner and have someone press the gas pedal. if you hear/see/smell fuel the you're getting fuel to the intake if not check for a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. Another cheap test is buy a can of carborator cleaner and spray a small amount into the intake. Truck starts then you have a fuel delivery problem. There is a possibility that the timing chain is worn and has jumped teeth on the gears. If this is the case, the valves will be out of time with the crank position and it won't start. In my '86 Ram, the gears were nylon which became brittle so teeth broke and allowed the chain to jump. I replaced the gears/chain (in 1996 at 180,000 miles) and it has gone another 100,000 miles.
the problem = bad gas and bad fuel pump. even worse, the fuel pump is in the gas tank
My truck ran beautifully last night when I parked it, then this morning it won't fire at all. the battery seems to be working fine. I have narrowed it down to either the fuel pump or maybe the crankshaft position sensor. Any further info would be nice thanks.
I have a 1994 Dodge ram 5.9 and thought my fuel pump was bad but it actually was a blown fuse for the engine. The problem was the overdrive lockout sensor in the transmission, when we dropped the tranny pan the twisted wires for the sensor were broken down and shorting out to each other. It only cost 38.00 for the sensor. but when that fuse blows it kills spark and power to the fuel pump. it plugs in on the drivers side of the transmission, the wire is lime green with a black stripe at the plug
Check the fuel pressure at the Schroeder valve, it should be 45psi before starting. If there is not enough fuel pressure it won't open the fuel injectors.
There are a few things that it could be if you Dodge Stratus wont start on first try. It could be the starter.
no that not it
keys have to be reprogram to the cluster
try checking your engine coil, you can have it tested at an auto parts store. not sure where it's located on your vehicle but if you have the book on it it should tell you. it should only be a couple of bolts to take it off. if that's not getting power or not putting out power your car won't start.
just a guess, your fuel filter maybe stopped up?
gauges don t work truck wont start
all of the other lights come on but when I turn switch all away to start wont do it
check fuel pump
no it wont you have to have either a 98 or a 99 dodge ram transmission

The Dodge intrepid will not start after overheating because it blocks the radiator cap.
My 2003 dodge ram 1500 has a 4.7L and my question is when i lock my truck the security lights like the park lights wont come off and i dont know what i did any help?
When this problem came up with my dodge stratus my husband found that a fuse was blown. We changed our battery and it would not start for us either. but as soon as he fixed some wiring and changed the fuse it was fine.
IDk but my stereo wont play in my 08 Dodge 2500 diesel Cummins either is it a fuse??
Cant illegal and the engine wont run without them
Check for vacuum leaks,
to fix it drive to the dealer and trade it for a cummins so then you wont have that problem.
