Because you should have bought a Fiat?
"Another View". Alfa Romeo, along with many other vehicles inc Fiat have numerous sensors witch help the engine run at its best. Most probable list goes : 1 idle sensor. 2 maf sensor. 3. variator. Best option is to get ECU analized witch will point out exactly witch sensor is At Fault or indeed some other problem.
A faulty camshaft can cause your 1991 Nissan Maxima to idle erratically. A diagnostic test could verify the cause of the improper idling speed.
Check the vacuum system on the car an at the transmission. If the car is computer controlled, check the computer codes for a possible problem.
Yes. IT can make the engine run to rich, and then cause misfires
When a car, such as a Hyundai accent, has and broken idle control valve the engine may or may not start. Idling is controlled by this part and the car a malfunctioning unit can cause the car to act erratically, such as starting at random times and stalling.
A 1994 Honda Accord can shut off for a number of reasons. The most common are lack of fuel or air. If there is a vacuum leak the car will idle erratically and shut off. When a car runs to lean it may not be able to hold an idle.
If you have any 'check engine' type of indicators lit up on your dashboard, have the engine codes checked with a code reader; that should tell you what's going on.
Check Vacuum lines Also I think there is a "plate" kind of deal on the top of the engine that connects the spark plug wires to the plugs (it lifts off in one piece) and sometimes one of these connectors cracks ( probably due to heat) and that may be the cause of your problem - niot running on all cylinders all the time
The Alfa Romeo 156 does have a throttle cable. However, not much can be done with the adjustment. The EDU will eventually return the engine to normal idle.
Might be the throttle Position Sensor or switch - causes it to idle erratically - jumps up and down in rpms. Got one the other day for a different type of car - was about 50.00. Not sure what engine you have - so don't know how to tell you to locate it. Might have your mechanic check that out - see what he says.
It sounds like the IAC valve which is very easy to change on the 97-98 models but first check to see if there is a vacuum leak. Hope this helps. The IAC is the Idle Air Control valve and is on top of the intake manifold driver's side.
There is a vacuum leak in the engine. When there is not enough pressure in the air system the car will not idle correctly. This can cause a slow idle, erratic idle, or even a surging idle. Check the vacuum lines and intake for any leaks.
You could have a bad opti-spark distributor. Here are some of the symptoms: idle erratically, die at idle, start back up, turning over and over without starting for hours, and the Service Engine Soon light might pop up; showing code 16 or 36.
