Catholic AnswerThe Holy Father (The Pope) is the Vicar of Christ, he is a man and does not have "worshipers".As for protecting the faithful against HIV, I think he has done that by teaching God's law: that sex should only happen in a committed, lifelong marriage. If everyone obeyed God's law in this respect, there would be no HIV, and its spread would cease immediately.
