Slants are better suited than agar plates, because they can be capped, preventing the agar and the culture from drying out. The cap also prevents airborne contaminants from entering the slant. Also, slants take up less storage space than an agar plate.

Actually the liquid agar medium is used in the petridishes to grow the colonies of bacteria. The nutritional environment available to the bacteria results in to faster growth of their colonies and also they can be used for the experiments more rapidly
A stereoscope is used for looking at bacterial colonies on agar plates. Some colonies are very tiny and the stereoscope magnifies them so the technician can perform more detailed testing and observe colony morphology more closely.
blood or nutrient agar would work, but blood agar will most likely grow more bacteria.
If you do open one or more of them, you can contaminate them with microbes. These will most likely not be the ones you are trying to culture. It can give you a false negative.
You have to make subculture from this slant and after incubation you can observe how many types of microorganisms are present in the nutrient agar slant. If you have one colony shape so you have a pure nutrient agar slant but if you have more than one type of colonies so the nutrient agar slant is contaminated.
It is more likely to give individual colonies regardless of the concentration of the original source. With pour plates, you might have to use several plates with different dilutions of inoculum to get individual colonies.
