no , the heater core is for your heat , the evaporator core is for your air conditioning ( cooling )
You will have to disconnect the liquid line and the accumulator from the evaporator tubes in order to remove the heater core.....
On top of the air conditioning accumulator (can), located on the passenger side of your engine not too far from the electric fan motor for your heater core/ air conditioning evaporator. It has a plastic dust cap covering the valve.
Oil capacity for the complete system is 8 ounces. The breakdown is 2 oz. in the compressor(or the exact amount you remove from same. The evaporator core holds 3 oz. , the condensor core holds 1 oz. and the accumulator holds 2 oz.
On a 1998 Ford Ranger : The evaporator core for the air conditioning system is inside the plastic case ( that also holds the heater core ) located behind and below the glove compartment in the dash on the passenger side
no! sensor is the one senses the cooling of the air condition while the evaporator core is the lid of the sensor
I have been quoted at $300 + for replacing the evaporator core which is the main cooling component of the AC. I didnt get mine fixed
Discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the evaporator. Plug the openings to prevent contamination.Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the accumulator. Plug the openings to prevent contamination.Remove the accumulator.Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes.Remove the PCM from the dash panel and move it aside. Do not disconnect the PCM harness connector. In the engine compartment, remove the heater/air conditioning housing assembly-to-chassis nuts.In the passenger-s compartment, remove the heater/air conditioning housing-to-dash panel nuts.Pull the heater/air conditioning housing assembly rearward far enough to clear the studs and air conditioning drain tube holes.Remove the heater/air conditioning housing assembly from the vehicle.Remove the upper-to-lower heater/air conditioning housing screws and remove the upper housing.Remove the evaportor core from the lower housing.
The expansion valve is inside the plastic box along with the evaporator core underneath the dashboard, right side.
It is either a leaking heater core or the air conditioning evaporator drain plug is clogged.
Most likely a clogged evaporator drain. Have a mechanic with a lift clear the drain tube. Expect to need the evaporator core replaced soon.
