If it was low recently and you filled it, it could be air in the system. The overflow can also result when pressure in the tank is too high. This is often the result of a faulty Power Steering pump.
open hood, front of engine on th drivers side. small reservior with black cap.
If your car is equiped with power steering, the reservior is located in the engine bay on the drivers side. It is attached to the engine where the belts run.
try replacing your coolant temp/sensor $5.00
check/replace the engine coolant level sensor located in the engine coolant overflow reservior (located at the rear of the engine compartment pass. side)
left side of the engine bay kind of a yellow color its labled on the lid
No fuses in POWER steering, power comes from a hydraulic pump. if your power steering isn't working folow the column through the firewall and to the sttering box, hoses from the sttering box will attach to a pump and reservior tank and probaly be driven by a belt on the engine. make sure the oil level in the reservior is full, next the hose could have failed, and lastly, and most expensive, the pump has failed.
Replace the power steering pump located just right of the windshield washer fluid reservior in the left front corner of the engine compartment. Add power steering fluid and replace serpentine belt. (Belt part #: 425K4)
check to see if the overflow bottle cap is in 2 parts allowing antifreese to escape the overflow tank system when the engine is running your car might also be running cold all the time even though the overflow tank shows full
According to a drawing in the 2001 Lincoln LS Owner Guide : The power steering fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment , between the engine and the drivers side fender , near the engine oil level dipstick and the engine air filter housing * it takes Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid as the power steering fluid
On a 2000 Lincoln LS : The power steering fluid reservoir is between the engine and the DRIVERS side fender ( it takes MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * don't worry , the engine cooling fan fluid reservoir , which is between the engine and the passenger side fender also takes MERCON automatic transmission fluid
Not directly. If the engine is running, power steering should be OK, otherwise something else is wrong.
The power steering module has lost the engine speed signal. This is normal if the engine is not running. If the fault code comes up with the engine running, you have a problem.
