I Currently own a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and it has or had the same problem... What i Did was find the computer and messed with the cables a bit. The truck turned rite on. The problem is that in order to keep it running i put tape going around the computer and cables... it works as if they were just loose or something... i don't know what the name for the cables is and am currently trying to find that out....
Fuel pump going out maybe?
Check the oxygen sensor. My 1995 Grand Cherokee stopped stalling while driving after it was replaced.
Lack of fuel, lack of air, ignition problems.
It depends on the setpoint of the thermostat.
Check your oxygen senser, fuel filter, or cool pack
If it cools down at speed you have a fan problem. Most likely the fan clutch has gone bad.
crank sensor ?
I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 4.0 litre six cylinder and 4x4 transmission. It has died on me several times while driving but was only a fuse on the passenger side under the hood. It was located in the section that says TRANS. When I replaced the fuse it started right up.
Inoperative radiator fan.
u joint on drive shafts
My bet it is the spark plug wires or spark plugs or rotor cap if it has one. If the wires are going bad, they are worse "under load" (while driving).
1. out of balance wheels 2. misaligned front end 3. worn out steering dampner.
