Sounds like you could have a leak in your heater core. Not positive on the location in the LeSabre, personally I am familiar with the Regal of that era where the the heater core is located under the dash on the passenger side along with the blower motor. Check the carpeting on the floor pan for any tell tale antifreeze. Follow your heater hoses and see where they lead you. If you have antifreeze in the heater box you need to change out the core. Sometimes after a flush you will dislodge sediment that previously had been blocking pin hole leaks in the heater core and you will spring a leak. You could try a radiator sealant but you will only delay the inevitable and possibly cause further problems.
It will contaminate the engine coolant and could change the properties of the antifreeze...you should have the cooling system flushed and refilled at a good repair shop...it is recommended by most car manufacturers that you have the cooling system flushed ever 2 years anyway.
Flush your radiator and get that orange antifreeze GUNK outta there! I flushed mine...my mechanic added green antifreeze and all is well....that orange stuff eats and destroys....
then you should have your radiator flushed because you have rust in it. FYI: antifreeze can strip the paint off of your it you spill it. Also, you may need to replace your radiator if the antifreeze is leaking, it may be through a rusted/corroded portion of the radiator.
I would get the cooling sytem flushed and then replace the coolant ( mixture of antifreeze and preferably distilled water - usually 50 / 50 mix , but if a colder climate Ford states on Ford vehicles up to 60 % antifreeze can be used )
It could be flushed with clean water and refilled with Dex-Cool or, you can find a Universal Antifreeze at most auto parts houses. Make sure the Universal Antifreeze specifically states it is compatible with Dex-Cool. Some Antifreeze types cannot be used with OE GM Dex-Cool. If in doubt as to how long cross contamination has occurred, flush the system with running water, although without removing the thermostat and the block drain plug on the drivers side above the oil filter, you will not completely flush all antifreeze from the system....this being so, it would be best to refill with a Universal Antifreeze . Damage is usually some corrosion to alloy parts and some accumulation of crystallized antifreeze. Most I have seen this way had little in the way of corrosion.
10.5 qts.
dex-cool There is currently several class action law suits in regard to Dexcool. Check it out on the internet. Have the complete system flushed and install the green antifreeze.
You need to completely flush the system of all contaminated brake fluid. As this is a very serious and possibly dangerous situation I recommend you take this car to a professional and have the system completely flushed and refilled with fresh fluid.
Maybe it is out of antifreeze? If older car, maybe you need the radiator and heater flushed.
It probably takes the orange stuff which is dex-cool, if your smart you will have the complete cooling system flushed and put in the old green antifreeze as the dex-cool has been known to eat head and intake gaskets.
yes, but you need to get rid of all of the dex-cool first... needs flushed really really good then you can replace the cool with normall cool (green). Now there are some Universal Antifreeze that will mix with dex-cool. that coolant says on the bottle ANY COLOR, ANY MAKE, ANY MODEL....
If you waited until the coolant is brown you waited too long. Have the system professionally flushed at that point.
