Sounds like Timing is off. Find the 3 10mm holding the distrib. on and slowly loosen them so the unit moves. Try to turn distrib. slowly according to the sound of the idle. There also is a screw near the throttle body that is an idle adjustment. Kinda hard to tell you where it is, but you can search Google to locate this on your own. There is also the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) on the back of the intake manifold that gets clogged at times. This also has coolent inside so be sure to put an pan underneath to catch the coolent. Once the IACV is off, spray carb cleaner in there and around to remove the carbon deposits and let dry. Replace everything.
*Also, might as well clean the throttle plate on the throttle body as well. O2 sensor is also a great way to have the engine manage itself more efficiently.
