Well, my car does the same thing in 4th....I looked at the shift cable bushing where it attaches to the tranny and there was a lot of extra play there... possibly enough play to not fully engage the gear...they make aftermarket replacement bushings which would be the easiest solution or replace the entire shift cable for a new one....a whole lot cheaper than replacing the tranny......this worked for this case...other cars that pop out of gear all of sudden might need a similar fix...
Broken or worn motor mounts can cause that.
there are plastic covers over them on the inside of the trunk that you pop off
Pop Gear was created in 1965.
Flathead screwdriver, put it in an bend, it will pop right out, i had this problem with my 97 eclipse. I had the same, the latch got caught in the plastic string that holds the fuel cap
there is 3 10mm bolts on each headlight all you have to do is loosen then all and they will pop loose and there own no bumper removal necessary
If one wanted to buy a used Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, then one should look in the local classifieds. One will pop up sooner or later. One should also visit nearby dealers and ask to be contacted if one shows up.
The duration of Pop Gear is 1.17 hours.

it is probably your shift lever bushings, but check the rubber seals and carpeting, sometimes they put pressure against the shifter making it pop out of gear.
the covers do not pop off. you have to take off the entire side panel. im not sure but they are probobly 6 x9's.
