Sometimes you can just press the spacebar, but usually you just click on the pause button with your mouse.
(StarStripe) My Laptop has a pause key... but its probably because most games past Windows 2000 didnt use that pause key... so its basically useless.

If you want ONLY the usb one to work, you could disable or uninstall the driver for the one on the laptop. press the windows key, type device for device mngr, find your keyboard, and you are there.
