bad "clock spring" in steering wheel behind air bag
replace the whole steering wheel cause once the buttons have melted??...they wont work anyway.
probably a broken wire, either at the switches, or in the steering column
No they do not light up, although it would be nice if they did! As a matter of fact in time the letters will rub off from wear.
From new they would have been controls for the radio. Volume, Station, Cd/Radio, etc. I
It doesn't control anything. It is the connection for the cruise switches, horn switch, radio controls(if equipped) and airbag that allow the steering wheel to turn and there to still be a connection.
Hit that switch under the radio to on. A green light will come on. Then simply use the steering wheel control knob. Hit that switch under the radio to on. A green light will come on. Then simply use the steering wheel control knob.
Radio/CD volume controls. If you press both buttons at the same time it will also mute either the CD or radio. You will also notice a strange knob thing on top of the volume control unit, this is to tune the radio.
The wires through the steering column and the rotating connections probably have a break or a bad connection. the steering wheel may have to be pulled to find the cause.
The cruise and radio switches do not share a common fuse.
yes here are bottom of control on the steering
Remove the cruise control and unplug the pump. Simply disconnect the two plugs and pull the pump out of the fluid resevoir. Connect the hoses to the new pump, plug in the electrical connectors and plug the pump back into the resevoir. Make sure to hook the cruise control back up. All the controls on the steering wheel are ran through the cruise control. By not plugging the cruise back up, you will not have a horn, radio controls, etc... It's basically a coiled ribbon cable that provides power and control to the horn, cruise, radio (if equipped). It coils and uncoils (like a clock spring) as you turn the steering wheel.
