Common causes of overheating are; defective ( stuck closed ) thermostat, low coolant level, bad water pump, failed electric fan relay, failed electric fan, failed electric fan thermo switch, blockage in coolant lines or radiator or blown head gasket ( check oil dipstick for coolant in your oil pan ). The Temp sensor does not prevent overheating, it just senses how hot the engine is.
Try changing the coolant fill tank screw on cap, that is what mine was.
way is my crank sensor over heating on my 2005 colbalt
burp the water system that may help
check the fan clutch
No it wouldn't, but jump starting the car or over heating the engine would crap out the sensor. I'm in the process of changing my crank position sensor now, but my original broke in my engine block ... so I need to drill a hole so I can pull it out without pushing it in my block. :(
2000 Pontiac grand am se keeps over heating I changed the water pump, the thermostat, radiator cap, head, and it is still over heating. make sure thermostat is going the right way , spring gose to the motor
Is the cooling fan working? Make sure radiator are not collapsing under pressure Make sure radiator cap is holding pressure Test cooloant temperature with a thermometer perhaps gauge or sensor is defective
You may have a bad or weak cooling fan sensor.
Try changing the thermostat.
Bad sensor? There is a coolant temp. sensor that goes bad. Mine been on for over a yr doesnt mean it is low....just bad sensor.
May have a bad water pump, otherwise make sure your coolant system has pressure. this can cause over heating.
YOU MHAVE TO WAIT FOR OVER FIFTY MILES OF DRIVING MAYBE 75 IF AFTER THAT IT WONT GO OUT THEN COMPUTER WILL HAVE TO BE RESET AT DEALERS
A bad cam or crank sensor can cause a no start, but the engine will still crank or turn over.
