In the last few years, the word 'please' has just about disappeared in the UK. The reasons for this and other etiquette deficiencies are unclear but could be related to recent massive Immigration which has changed the general culture of the UK, particularly in the big centres of population. For example, at the last census in 2011, only 48% of London's population identified themselves as being 'white British'.
