What comes to mind when you hear the word bully? If you think like most Americans today, you think of the rough, gruff, unloved behemoth son of the local alcoholic who loves to punch on little Timmy in school. This idea of a bully has become popular and even accepted in some places as an unavoidable part of growing up. But as technology advances and the World Wide Web expands in power and popularity, we see the development of a new type of bully. A bully that has even taken children's lives. The bully I'm referring to is the cyber bully. According to the National Crime Prevention Center, 40% of teens with access to the internet have reported being bullied online, making this an epidemic among 15-16 year olds. Though they seem less threatening, attacks over the internet have the potential to do tremendous harm to a young person's psyche and social image. Some of the most common examples of cyber bullying attacks include "blogging" or sharing private information or humiliating photos, sending cruel and threatening messages and the hacking and vandalizing social networking profiles. This type of torment is extreme, having already driven young people to suicide around the globe. It is imperative that parents, teachers and young people work together to curb online bullying before even more children are hurt, and more lives are lost.

If someone is bullying you so badly that it messes with your work you should just block them or ignore them. Its online, you have the power to not see them.

Some results of cyber bullying are thoughts of suicide, not going to school/work, or suicide. a few years ago there was a girl that committed suicide and her mother was so depressed, mad and lonely. the girl was only like 15 or 16 years of age, when she did not show up to school for a while everyone got worried and they found her dead. also there was a note in her room and they found the man for the reason she killed herself. the mother took the man to court and he got in jail. and probably is still in jail now ...
