∙ 11y agoThere isn't an exact answer. This is a very ambiguous question. I had a debate about this for 2 hours and i concluded that it was because the King of Norway was giving him a reward or would give him a high position in his court if he betrayed King Duncan and helped the King of Norway.

∙ 11y agoIf you are talking about Macbeth who was the Thane of Cawdor, he was considered a traitor because he murdered his way to the throne. If you are talking about Macbeth's immediate predecessor in the office, he was a traitor because he allied himself with the Norwegians, the enemies of the Scots. "Norway himself, assisted by that most disloyal traitor, the Thane of Cawdor, began a dismal conflict."
