You have not detaied your application.

I am guessing you have a "DC" model carburetor.

As long as there is not a crank case air breather you have a missfire at the very least.

I have seen this more over that last decade where a camshaft wears out and one cylinder starts "popping back" into the intake casing all sorts of mess.
