"Remember the Alamo" became the battle cry of the Texans fighting for independence from Mexico. The battle at the Alamo was a hard-fought battle between Texas independence fighters and Mexican troops where all the defenders of the Alamo were killed. The Alamo became known as "The Cradle of Texas Liberty". I suggest you do a Google search on the Alamo or The Handbook of Texas for detailed and concise information. It;s a wonderful research topic. My skin turns to goose bumps every time I enter the old Spanish mission now known as the Alamo.

It is not the most famous battle in history. I know of no way to qualify the most famous battle in history. It is certainly the most famous battle in Texan history because the sacrifice of the Alamo made possible the later Texan victory at the Battle of San Jacinto. At the Alamo, a small number of Texans made a stand and they were destroyed. Yet, they bought two weeks of precious time for the Texan Army to mobilize. They also provided an example of resistance against the superior Mexican Army, and they became martyrs for the Texan cause to be avenged at San Jacinto.
