Why will my shift lever move but the transmission wont go in gear if you shift it real hard it might go in gear?

The year, make and model vehicle would help but in some vehicles the shift cable runs under the drivers side carpet and gets damaged from constant moisture resulting in a sticky, binding shift lever.

Gearshift stuck in park?

It could be mechanical or it could be electrical. Sometimes if you park on a steep incline or park hard up on a curb, the shift will be difficult to come out of park but it should with a little extra pull on the lever. Also, check the fuses. many vehicles today must have the brake pedal applied to release the shift lever from park. If the fuse is blown that protects that circuit, the shift lever will not move.

What is the lever next to the stick shift on an 83 dodge colt?

bark lever

Why shift lever does not work?

The shift level is locked by the shift solenoid. When you step on the brake, the brake switch sends power to the shift solenoid and it moves a lever to unlock the shifter. If either the switch or solenoid is bad, you can't shift out of park.

How would you go about fixing a gear shift lever on a 2001 Buell blast after you put it in 1st gear it fell down like a spring broke off in the primary maybe any help would be appreciated?

I have had the same problem with my 2002 Buell Blast, where when you shift to first, or down shift at all, the shift lever comes loose and just hangs. What I did to fix this, is loosen the hex-nut and bolt that go through the shift lever, and remove the shift lever itself. What is probably happening is oil is seeping in between the shift lever openining and the primary. Clean the openinig on the shift lever, and the spool it attaches to. If the hex-bolt is in poor condition, pick up a new one, or if it's in alright condition (not stripped) clean it. Simply set the shift lever where you want it, and retighten the hex-bolt. Tighten it a fair bit, using a lever to get extra leverage on it. Buells are notorious for leaking oil, so start with that. Worked for me...

How do you operate a 2003 Jeep Liberty 4 wheel drive?

There is a horizontal lever on the left side of the shift lever. It is identified as the 4WD or transfer case shift lever. While parked or moving at a slow speed you can pull up on this lever one notch. This puts the vehicle in part-time four wheel drive. (this should become indicated by an instrument panel lamp). This is most common for slippery driving conditions. There are other distinct settings that are activated by additionally pulling up on lever additionally. Low 4WD setting requires some lateral movement of the lever as well as upward motion.
