This is typically one of two things if your car is running just fine. Either the gas cap is loose or damaged, or more likely an oxygen sensor is bad. On all cars made after 1996, there will be a connector under your dash that looks like a large serial port from a computer. It is usually to the right of the steering wheel and just above your right knee. Go to your nearest auto parts store and usually you can borrow, either with or without a deposit, their engine computer tester. Follow the instructions carefully on the tester to obtain the code that is causing the light to be on. Give this code to the parts guy and ask what you need to change. He or she can usually get it for you. If they don't know, just type in Honda Element check engine code XXX in Yahoo search and you should have the answer for that particular code. If it is an oxygen sensor, I have found exceptional on them at oxygengeek.com. Although they did screw up my order and had to ship the correct one later. John
