Yes. That is most likely a sensor malfunction and will do no harm. Zero pressure is when you worry.

Remove the gauge and check the ground. Probably your issue. Jeeps are known for having "floater" gauges. If that doesnt work buy a new oil pressure gauge.
My jeep had the same issue, normally it was when it was in idle. We didn't do tests or anything but found that when we replaced the oil pressure sending unit, it fixed it. We Guessed that its the unit not the actually issue with the pressure...

The distributor is set to zero with a scan tool. It is not done with a timing light.
first check that engine oil is at proper level, if so it may be a bad oil presure sensor. fairly inexspensive fix
Assuming the engine is not knocking, indicating a serious mechanical problem, its most likely the oil pressure sender.
Press the step button until zero miles to service is displayed. Press and hold reset.
