All Holy Books have much truth in them, and if one lives by their precepts they will live good lives. The choice one has to make is which of the two is the most correct. Over the years that these volumes have been with us, there have been many translations. We know that the Bible has been translated again and again. As for the Quran I would suspect that there have been some meanings misinterpreted at each writing. In the book of Mark it says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God... ". I think that this is what you have to do.
There are many books. Vedas, Upanishads, Manusmriti, etc. but for laymen, it would be Srimad Bhagvatham, Bhagvad Geeta, Ramayanam.ANS#2:'Hindus consider the Bhagwad Geeta as the bible equivalent. It is the essence of the Vedas, a summation of the Upanishads. Having read the Geeta once, I can say that it has a solution to every problem. Sometimes, I feel it has more to do with human psychology and less with religion. The Geeta tries to show you the right path without imposing its thoughts on you.
