If the trucks front end is tight, it sounds like your tire shop balanced separated tires. If the tire tech doesn't watch the spin balancer for what I call a "bad roll", they can miss the obvious sepo tire. There is a serial number on your tire called the DOT number. If the last 2 numbers are before 2006, I would say that you have tire issues. Here is an example UP0RT192805, this tire would have been made the 28th week of 2005. Tires should be in the consideration of being retired after about 5 years of service. I have seen many tires last longer than this, but it's the only thing between you and the road. Don't chance it. Also when buying new tires, demand to know what year those tires were made. You don't want to take off 5 year old tires, and put 3 year old tires back on. See what I mean? There are tire stores sitting on tires that are greater than 10 years old. This would be your Sears, Walmart, Sams Club and other places that have tires built just for them, so they sit in a warehouse until they sell. You may also have a slightly bent wheel. Good luck, but I'm 99% sure on the sepo tires. Could also be out of round tires as well. This goes back to the "bad roll" theory. These tires "HOP" on the spin balancer. You can balance an egg all day long, but it never rolls good!
You need to first have the tires balanced and tires checked for broken belts in the tire. These are the most common cause of your problem.
Tire out of balance, bent wheel, defective tire, or worn steering parts.
Tires and/or wheels out of balance?
i have the same exact problem but i believe it is the fact that i have a normal brushguard if you have one it probably is that if you will notice the next time your in your truck watch the brushguard shake resulting in the whole truck shaking as well....... ---- Your tires may not be properly balanced. Just because the tires we changed three times do not mean they were balanced three times. Check out this article. It explains a lot about vehicle vibrations. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/514237/understanding_vibrations_in_your_vehicle.html?cat=27
You probley need to have the tires balanced first. If that don't correct the problem, Then ask your question again with the year and type of truck.
If it shakes only when the brakes are applied, its the brakes. Just because they are "good" and stop the truck well doesn't mean they are balanced and wont cause a vibration.
shocks need replaced .Un balanced tires, and fat women riding in the back!
You probably have worn steering and suspension parts causing the front end to be out of alignment.
Vibrations are usually caused by an imbalance of a spinning part. Tires, wheels, CV joints/axles, or large engine components can either be damaged and become "out-of-round", or in the case of tires, the steel belts can shift inside of the tire, causing vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel. In general, start with the tires, eliminating problems along the way, and work toward the inside of the car. Have your tires balanced, and get an alignment check. That should take care of the problem (and should be done on aregular basis anyway). It is important to take care of the vibration right away, even if you can "live with it". Out of balance equipment like that can cause other damage within the car, and can make the vehicle unsafe to drive. ANSWER i have a small truck i put tires on it had them on it for about 8 moths . it vibrated in the front bad i could not get anyone to tell me why they told me this and that. i just gave up so one day i chose to buy tires and the tire shop guy siad oh you want light truck tires so i said sure why not the shaking and vibrating stopped. moral of the story i had car tires and NOT truck tires. for what its worth it helped my vibrating. it stopped it....
The first and easiest thing to check would be have the front wheels checked for balance, if doesn't fix problem well need to have the ball joints, tie rods ends, steering linkage checked.
