Why is the variable venturi carb on your 1986 tercel flooding?

The carb floods because the needle & seat is not controlling the gas that is entering the carb. This problem can be caused by a heavy float, or more likely by a small piece of foreign matter (dirt, rust, etc.) stuck on the tip of the needle. When this happens, the needle and seat can sometimes be simple removed and cleaned and then reinstalled, and sometimes it must be replaced. Good luck. RECARBCO see us at
