well one thing i would cheak is you muffler it could be leaking out there if so you have a craked block
---
I had a '93 Passat with a bad head gasket. The water was leaking into cylinder #1 and evaporating into the exhaust, completely bypassing the oil. The VW mechanic said this was not uncommon. The car passed the coolant pressure test, but when the mechanic pulled the spark plugs he could see the coolant in the cylinder using a flashlight.
If only when cold - normal condessation burning off If when hot could be a sign of a leaking head gasket Check to see if oil is mixing w/coolant or coolant mixing with oil
Yes! if you have a cracked head chances are your oil and coolant are mixing together and coolant and or oil is leaking out causing the vehicle to overheat... if you have a cracked head fix it! do not drive the vehicle
If it is not leaking externally then it is leaking internally. The intake manifold gaskets are known to leak coolant into the engine on that vehicle. Have a trusted mechanic diagnose the problem soon because coolant mixing with engine (even in small amounts) oil will cause big trouble down the road.
It is possible if the leak is a "internal leak" - where the coolant is leaking inside the motor and mixing with the oil it will ruin the motor. This will eventually cause bearing failure. If it is an external leak - as long as you keep the coolant full and watch your temp gauge, you can get by for a while. Keep in mind - the leak will only get worse as time goes on.
This sounds like bad news. The coolant could be leaking into your engine and mixing with the engine oil, then cooking off. A simple test can tell if there's water in your oil.
You can buy coolant that is premixed and is added to the radiator without mixing.
Engine oil mixing with coolant and/or coolant mixing with engine oil.Losing coolant but don't see any leaks. White smoke (steam) coming out the exhaust that has a sweet smell to it.
Either low compression, coolant leakage externally or internally into combustion chambers causing white steam, or leaking internally and mixing with engine oil creating a creamy mess
Bad head gasket? Oil mixing with coolant?
Oil mixing with coolant? Coolant mixing with oil? Low compression on 2 adjacent cylinders? White smoke from exhaust when engine is hot?
if parts of cylinder head breaks, during compression it will push the whole Header up which will cause the Gasket to rip off and coolant leaking in the cylinder and mixing with fuel and failing a cyliner or engine. thus burning out all the coolant and over heating problems will occure. exactly what happened to my civic. PS theres coolant all around each cylinder separated and sealed by gasket.
AnswerI would suspect oil or transmission fluid is mixing with the coolant. Have this looked at by a professional immediately and do not run this engine until you do. In a 2003 Passat, the coolant is G12 which is supposed to be a permanent anti freeze.i.e. there is no scheduled change for the fluid. It is pink, and there is a purple brand too that can be mixed. If some other type i.e. G11 or a glycol anti freeze, is added, the fluid could look brown according to the manual. It is possible someone mixed the two if it was changed recently. If you hadn't mentioned that the fluid was changed recently, I would have left the answer above as the only answer.Dale
