There are a couple of steps you can do to be sure your heater core is the true issue as to why your heater isn't working. 1. If the thermostat on your engine is not operating properly i.e. if it is opening prematurly or stuck open. This wont allow enough hot water to be present in the heater core to provide sufficiant heat. 2. Extremly low antifreeze and water mixture in engine. 3. If you have a vehicle that has had a previous owner or owners it is possable the thermostat has been removed completely and not replaced. 4. The blower moter and heat exchange wires, vents, or vacume lines may be dissconected. This will cause the blower to either not work or it runs but the hot air is being channeled to the wrong place or is blocked completely. 5. The heter knobs, levers and bottons may be damaged, dissconected or faulty. I know it sounds like alot but compared to repairing a heater core this is a piece of cake. Or pie. Either way for example to replace anyone of these parts would be 75% less costly in both time and money than a heater core.
