may be you're battery if not i have a 91 blazer and it wouldn't start because of a bad wire to my alternator it would turn over but not start if that's not you re problem check your fuses and fuel pump good luck

Try checking the fuses. If ok, then it is a wiring or electrical prob. You might also want to check your ignition switch. it may not be making contact properly. I found this happening on my1991 cavalier also. If I would twist the ignition like I was going to start it again, but not far enuff to grind the starter, everything would start woring again. this would sometimes last a long time and other time not so long. So, with that said I would place my money into the ignition switch.

Turn the heater control to hot. Drain the radiator, and flush it with a garden hose and plain water. Install a new thermostat. Pour in a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Use the Schrader Valves to remove any trapped air from the system. They are found on the upper part of the cooling system and look like tire valves. Top off the radiator and overflow tank, and start the engine with the radiator cap off. watch for air escaping from the radiator, and put the cap on when you no longer see air bubbles. Use the Schrader valves to bleed any air left in the system one last time.

There are many items that can cause the problem you described. Let me try and narrow the search a bit. In basic theory, not perfect for your vehicle, the battery feeds power to the ignition system and the coil. When the distributor turns to a certain location the coil system will build up a charge. The distributor turns some more and the current travels thru a wire at the coil to the distributor. In the distributor the current will then travel to one of the 6 spark plugs thru a wire. The plug is gapped and a spark jumps the gap. So lets look at in in 4 parts, battery source, coil, distributor and sparkplugs. Since I was always trained to break things in half when you can then lets look at what we can check between the coil and distributor first. Remove the wire from the top, or center, of the distributor that goes to the coil. Put a screw driver in the end and then lay it down near a metal piece in the engine, but don't let it touch the metal and don't do it close to the gas line and definitely if you have a gas smell around. Try and turn over the car. You should see a pretty good spark jumping in good rythm as the car turns over. If the spark is good then the problem is probably in the distributor. Check each plug wire the same way and check the distributor cap for cracks or wear. If the above test didnt provide a spark then move things around a bit and ensure it had a good chance of sparking 1st. Then take off the wire on the coil and put a screw driver inside again. This time just let it hang there and turn over the engine. You should get a spark jumping, altho it may not be as smooth because of the large gap. If not then check the voltages on the coils. Should have battery voltage available. Then pull the cap and rotor on the distributor and check the internal parts to see if anything looks burned. Unless you are well trained chances are you wont be able to test the parts without a meter. If everything inside looks OK and the voltages are good then one of the electronic pieces have failed. You would need book to tell you haw to check the individual pieces and what their readings should be. Visit the local library or auto shop and borrow or buy a book. I recommend going to the dealer and get a real repair manual. Costs more upfront but the information is sooo much better. Hope this helped.Jonathn1
