14.4 volts? My car battery is nominally 12 volts. That aside...
Voltage is only part of the equation. Amperage is also important. A truck probably has a larger engine which requires more power to start than a small car engine does. One way to think about this is that if you connect a 1/2 inch pipe and a 4 inch pipe to a water tower, both of them will have the same pressure (voltage) but the 4 inch pipe will fill a swimming pool a lot faster (more amperage).
You can usually jump start a pickup from a (running) car, because at that point you're drawing on the amperage provided by the alternator rather than the "cold cranking amps" of the battery itself.
Remove battery and look toward engine from battery space use flashlight you see hose
alternator is bad........ my best guess.... or your battery is surface charging and cant take a load....... go to an autoparts store like advance or autozone n have them check the charging system and battery. -Jarrid-
1) Starter relay near battery.2) bad ground connection.3) dirty battery cables or connections. A click is a indication of a limitation of current flow.
bleed the fuel and then start or manualy fill the new fuel filter and then try it
its probably a dead battery if u cant start it up after a few minutes
what you do is turn the key so the battery power comes on, pump the gas pedal 3-5 times (cant remember which one) then start the truck. it will flash and stay on for a minute but then should turn off.
any auto parts store cant test both of those for free You can also test them yourself if you have a digital multi-meter. The battery will read 12.6 volts when fully charged. 12.4 at 75% charge, 12.2 at 50% charge, and 12.0 at 25% charge. With the engine at idle you should read from 13.5 to 15.5 volts at the battery if the alternator is good.
is it getting gas ? do you have spark?
Owner's manual. Put your key in the door and unlock it. (Even if it already unlocked.)
Hi from my own experiances i think it possibly is the alternator not charging.if you have a multimeter set it to dc volts and connect to the battery(+ to red and black to -) and when the engine is running see what volts are reading.it should say between 13.6-14.4 ish.i think the battery is in the boot so you mite need someone else to help you.if you cant do this just go to any garage as they know how to do this.
cant find the battery
Same thing happend to my truck. Change your distributor cap and rotor. Sparkplugs wont hurt, they're cheap. But its your cap and rotor.
