This naming 'Muhammadanism' is invented recently by some Westerners and has no origin from Quran or from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They invented this name to resemble the naming Christianity that comes from Christ. In Islam, Prophet Muhammad is human who called people to Islam per God revelation of Quran to him but Islam never called after his name for two reasons:
- Islam means full submission and surrender to God (Allah in Arabic) the one and only one God. Accordingly, Islam in its universal meaning is the religion since start of mankind. Islam per Torah revelation to Moses is called Judaism. Islam per The Bible revelation to Jesus is called Christianity. Islam per Quran revelation to Muhammad is called by God, in Quran, the very name Islam. So, it is forbidden to be called with another name.
- One of faith principles of Islam is to believe in all God prophets since start of mankind, including the Greatest five prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (Peace be upon them all). Accordingly, It is forbidden to name Islam by the name of only one prophet, Prophet Muhammad.

"Muhammadanism" implies several things: 1. It may imply that we adore and worship Muhammad as the Christians adore and worship Jesus. We do not worship Muhammad, Jesus or anyone else; only God alone do we worship. 2. It implies that Muhammad's message began with him. But Islam, to us, began with Adam and continued through all the true prophets - including Moses and jesus. Islam means: peace through submission to the will of the One God. 3. It implies that Muhammad's message was made - up by him. Islam is the final message of God to humanity. As such, God gave this way of life its name in the very text of the Qur'an. "This day I have completed my favor upon you and have chosen Islam as your way of life..." So why call it by a man-made name when God has given it a name?
