I'd also like to add that eating too much of anything is unhealthy. But not all fat is bad. You need some fat to stay healthy and even lose weight. The key is to eat the right kind of fat, and the right amount of it. Avoid heated fat (saturated fat found in deep fried foods etc.), while eating 3-6 grams of fat from fish (fish oil) is recommended especially to those with high cholesterol problem.
